True story - I HATE PORRIDGE. I've always tried to like it but I've never been able to eat more than a spoonful before wanting to spit it out - there is something funny about the texture. But chocolate porridge turned out to be a completely different story!
Basically what this proves is - put chocolate in anything and it becomes amazing.
When I first tried chocolate porridge I based it on a few recipes I had seen using bananas, brown sugar, and milk etc. And while it turned out yummy, the texture was still rather odd for me, and all the extra sugars (even though they were fruit sugars) meant I was deviating from the healthy low-sugar breakfast I wanted (and it was becoming rather calorific).
So, here is my healthy, keeping-it-low-sugar, chocolate porridge recipe!
Healthy, Low-Sugar Chocolate Porridge Recipe

🍳 Cook Time: 5 minutes
⏳ Total Time: 5 minutes
🔥 Calories: 290 per serving
🌱 Dietary Information: Vegetarian, low-sugar
50g rolled oats
250ml almond milk
2 1/2tsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1tsp honey
1/2tsp vanilla extract (optional)
2tbsp natural yogurt
50g blueberries
Method
1. In a small non-stick pan on high heat, combine your almond milk and rolled oats.
2. As the milk begins to boil, add the cocoa powder and vanilla extract and mix well. Allow to cook while occasionally stirring to avoid your oats from sticking to the bottom of the pan.
3. When your porridge is almost ready, add in the honey. Then, just before removing from the heat, mix in the yogurt.
4. Serve with blueberries or any other fruit you fancy.
Enjoy!
